It wants you to see Palestinians as the people things happen to, not as
the people who keep making catastrophic bets and then calling the
consequences persecution. The issue is not whether they hurt. The issue
is whether the hurt is best understood as wrongful victimization or as
the price of a long politics of refusal. Again and again, the answer is
the latter.
